PlayWorld Expo was born in 2019 from a simple yet powerful idea: to create a space where gaming enthusiasts of all ages could come together to celebrate their passion. Founded by a group of lifelong gamers and event professionals in Melbourne, our journey began with a modest gathering of 2,000 visitors in a small convention hall. What started as a weekend celebration of retro arcade games and indie developer showcases quickly grew into something extraordinary.

Our founders, inspired by their own childhood memories of gaming arcades and the magic of discovering new worlds through video games, wanted to recreate that sense of wonder for a new generation. They envisioned an event that would bridge the gap between nostalgic classics and cutting-edge gaming technology, where grandparents could share their love of Pac-Man while grandchildren explored virtual reality adventures. This vision resonated deeply with Melbourne's vibrant gaming community.

By 2021, PlayWorld Expo had tripled in size, attracting major gaming publishers, hardware manufacturers, and esports organizations. We relocated to our current home at 63 Family Rd, a state-of-the-art venue that allows us to host over 15,000 visitors annually. Our expo now features hundreds of playable gaming stations, exclusive game previews, developer panels, cosplay competitions, and family-friendly tournaments that bring together players from across Australia and beyond.

What sets PlayWorld Expo apart is our unwavering commitment to inclusivity and family entertainment. We've pioneered age-appropriate gaming zones, accessible gaming stations for players with disabilities, and educational workshops that help parents understand and appreciate their children's gaming interests.
